West End Tattoo was founded in 1993 by Julia Alphonso in an effort to provide clean, professional tattooing to the Historic West End area. After apprenticing and mentoring many of Atlanta's top African American tattoo artists Julia retired in 1999 and left the shop in the capable hands of her senior artist Tyrone "Red" Cooley. In 2008 "Red" moved and re-invented West End Tattoo in an attempt to transition the shop from a street shop environment to a more custom art oriented tattoo parlor. In order to bring the shop into the new millennium, the new W.E.T still provides the same clean tattooing it is known for plus adding an element of fine art and custom tattooing. The staff holds regular art exhibitions which are free and open to the public. So the next time you are in the West End and want to get some permanent or temporary art please visit West End Tattoo.
